Not Enough Time...

Sorry that it has been two days since my last post. I guess I need to work on my time management. Anyway today was a relatively "normal" day. Not much happening at my office.

Thought I would add a photo of the building I work in:

The United States Transportation Command, located at Scott AFB, Ill., was established in 1987 and is one of nine U.S. unified commands. As the single manager of America's global defense transportation system, USTRANSCOM is tasked with the coordination of people and transportation assets to allow our country to project and sustain forces, whenever, wherever, and for as long as they are needed.

Responding to the needs of the Department of Defense's warfighting commanders is USTRANSCOM's No. 1 priority.**

I have been researching other cell phone companies. I am thinking about going with T-Mobile. They only require a 1-year commitment whereas the others I have seen require at least 2. If they can provide better prices than Cingular then I may go ahead and switch. I found that T-Mobile has a better plan than the one I currently have with Cingular, so I believe that I will go ahead and switch.

Today I heard about Supreme Court Chief Justice Rehnquist's discharge from the hospital. With the possibility of his stepping down for health reasons and the announced retirement of Justice Sanda Day O'Connor President Bush may have an opportunity to appoint two Supreme Court justices, something that hasn't happened since 1971. What does that mean for the American justice system? Will it be better or worse? I guess only time will tell!

Stay tuned for more...

God Bless.

Another Day in My Life...

Well, here we are again.

Went back to work today for a "normal" workday. In the office that I work in we have three different shifts. 5am to noon, 8am to 4:30 pm and noon until ??. Our office is open between 12-14 hours daily. This is the first regular day shift that I have worked in quite a while. I was on vacation most of June due to two church mission trips and one week-long college class. It was a little unusual being in my office through a whole work day. I was quite busy but I managed to get through it.

Thinking of my retirement, I can't believe that I only have 5 months of work left. I need to get real busy and find myself a job in the civilian world.

We had a really good weekend. My son and his fiance came over on Saturday evening and spent the night. We went out to dinner and just caught up on events. Sunday we went to church and followed that with lunch out with my mother. An interesting fact was brought up about that lunch.

My mother was there with her son.
My wife was there with her son.
My son's fiance was there with her son.

My son did not leave our house until about 11 pm on Sunday night. We had a great time conversing and my wife and I and his fiance convinced him to go back to Ranken Technical College to finish his degree in AutoBody Repair.

What a Hot Day!

After working a very long week (with my shift being from 5 am to noon - but getting up at 3 am for a 45 minute drive to Scott AFB, IL) I decided to sleep in today. I got up at 9 am. My wife actually woke me up by going into the garage and getting our little blow up swimming pool out. She decided she wanted to sit in pool today and sit on the patio and work on her homework for her composition class. (She attends Washington University also and is pursuing a Psychology degree.)
BTW, we are looking to have an in ground swimming pool put in our back yard. We decided that we need something for ourselves.

If anyone has any suggestions on brand, type, size, etc. please feel free to let me know.

I have been working on our travel arrangements to Las Vegas. We will be going in October with our son and his fiance. He turned 21 in April and we promised him a trip there once he became "legal". We finally decided on a package through American Airlines and Bally's. We have been there twice before. Once on a family vacation and the other on a trip that I won through a contest associated with the St. Louis Cardinals.

I have also been working on cleaning up my email accounts. I guess my wife considers me a real computer geek since I have more than 1 email account. Actually I have at least five email accounts that I check regularly. I guess that may qualify me as a computer geek. Well, maybe an email geek!!!

We are waiting for my son and his fiance now so that we can go to dinner.

Check out this site again.

Later....

My First Entry

This is my first attempt at a blog. I am taking a Social Software class at Washington University in St. Louis and this is a project for the class. I am currently on active duty with the US Army and stationed at Scott AFB, IL. I just found out today that my retirement request was approved with an effective date of March 1, 2006. By that time I will have spent 20 years and 7 days on active duty. I do not know what I will be doing when I retire, but I am looking. If anybody has any suggestions...? My background is in Administration. I have been an Executive Administrative Assistant for the past 10 years.

More later...
